Welcome to our new, but temporary website!
LKSD is rolling out new websites for all schools and within a couple months we will have a new, more comprehensive website to showcase all that is going on at Gladys Jung Elementary.
In the meanwhile, we hope you will use this website to check upcoming events (please see sidebar on the right side of the page), and read about our student’s accomplishments and activities.
A selection of 3rd & 4th grade Battle books
Students who are participating in Battle of the Books have been busy reading a great selection of books. Student teams who advance from GJE to the district competition will compete at the district level on Feb 6.
A selection of 5th & 6th grade Battle books
If you have questions about Battle of the Books please contact your student’s grade-level teacher.
Please be advised students across LKSD will be MAP testing the next several weeks. These test results can be used to place students in programs and for other diagnostic purposes so please make sure your students are at school on time, well rested and ready to learn. Thank you so much for your continued support of our academic programs.
GJE will be hosting an archery tournament on Jan. 27 in the gym.
Congratulations to our December Students of the Month!
Mr. C. (or is it Mr. Claus?) spreading good cheer this last day of school for the year.
Happy holidays from GJE! School resumes on January 10 for students.
Bingo! We have a row of winners on our Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Bingo board. Mr. Smith is writing down our winners so they can receive their rewards at our SOAR assembly today!
The holidays have arrived, and sled dog racing season has begun. Rachel DeHann’s third grade class at Gladys Jung Elementary School brings us the news on events in Bethel this December in the next installment of Cranes Corner News. News brought to you in English, Yupik and Korean!
Previous installments of Crane News can also be found on the KYUK website:

We are ready to welcome students back on Monday with a normal schedule!
