We will not have Friday Afternoon Showcase this week. (The date number is odd and we have scheduled them on even-numbered Fridays this year.)
The First Grade Battle of the Books competition day was delayed due to Monday’s early release. It will happen at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017.
Due to very poor visibility, there will be no Bethel buses this afternoon.
Schools will dismiss at the following times:
ME School Ayaprun (all grades) will dismiss at 2pm
GJE will dismiss at 2:30pm
BRHS will dismiss at 3pm
Parents, please pick up your child at the dismissal times to avoid traffic problems at school. Please call your child’s school office if you have questions.
There is ME Friday Afternoon Showcase today at 2:30pm. The theme is Valentine’s Day, so wear red and pink.
There is no rollerskating tonight. Please enjoy the games at BRHS!
There will be no Showcase this Friday, 2/3/17, but there will be
For this fundraising activity,
children must be accompanied by an adult.
$5 for skates, popcorn, and juice
6:30-7:30 First/Second Grade
There are some changes to Bus 4 and Bus 5 that will start on Tuesday, January 31, 2017.
Click here to go to the Bus Schedule Page to download the updated schedules.
Please note that the “Schwalbe and Hwy” stop has been eliminated for safety reasons. Students using that stop should use the “Cultural Center” stop instead. Changes with Cultural Center stop order were made to help with overloading we have been experiencing with Bus 5. Ayaprun students need to use the Cultural Center stop that comes before Bus 5 reaches the other schools.
Decisions about school closure because of low temperatures are made with the help of the National Weather Service Wind Chill Chart, which is available on this website at this link. The red line represents the 7-minute frostbite risk temperatures. If the National Weather Service reports temperatures and wind that together are colder than this line, school will be closed.
Mr. and Mrs. Dhaemers will be selling our Mikelnguut Elitnaurviat logo t-shirts, caps, jackets, and patches at Saturday Market on January 21, 2017 at the Cultural Center. They can take cash or checks made out to M.E. School. To see the design this year, scroll down this page and look to the right side or view more apparel items on our Announcements page.
Parents/Guardians of Mikelnguut Elitnaurviat—we need your opinion!
Our school is committed to providing a safe and encouraging place for your child. You can help us continue to make improvements to our school by completing a short online survey. Our goal is to have at least 100 adults take the survey by the 100th day of school, which is January 26, 2017.
M.E. second graders will be participating in the Safe & Civil Schools Climate & Safety Survey. We want to know what you think, too. All responses are anonymous. The resulting data will allow us to see if the three groups—parents/guardians, students, and staff—agree or disagree about important issues. We will be able to identify what we are doing well and what we need to work on, such as safety in a particular location of the school, students’ understanding of the expectations for behavior, or communication with families.
It’s quick and easy!
- The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete.
- It’s available online, 24 hours a day for over two weeks—January 18 through February 10.
- You can complete it on any computer with Internet access—at home, work, the public library, or at ME School. We will have computers available in the front office and in the school computer lab after school on January 19, 2017 until 7:30pm. (Cellular connections do not work well, but tablets and phones with WIFI will work.)
- Just one parent or guardian from each household should take it.
- You can choose to read the survey in English or Spanish.
- Examples of questions are:
- Are staff members supportive of students?
- Are families informed about the rules and expectations for student behavior?
- Are student cliques a problem at this school?
The survey is available from Wednesday, January 18 through Friday, February 2017.
Thank you! If you have any questions about the survey, please feel free to call the school office.
